Borobudur Temple
Borobudhur Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in the 9th century AD. According to the Kayumwungan Inscription, this temple was revealed in its construction, completed on May 26, 824, or nearly 100 years since its initial construction. It is said that the meaning of Borobudhur itself means mountain terraces or can also be called budhara. Another opinion about Borobudhur temple is that the Borobudhur temple means a monastery located on a high place.
Based on the inscription dated 842 AD, a Casparis historian states that Borobudhur is one place to pray. Where in the inscription contains the word "Kawula i Bhumi Sambhara" which means origin of purity and Bhumi Sambara is the name of a corner in the Borobudhur Temple. Each floor in the Borobudhur Temple has different themes because at each level it symbolizes the stages of human life. This is in accordance with Mahayana Buddhism that everyone who wants to reach the level of perfection as a Buddha must go through every stage of life. On each floor in the Borobudhur Temple there are reliefs which, if read with coherence, will bring us around the temple in a clockwise direction.
